2017 was a great summer at Camp K’helah and Camp K’helah Pines
We are thrilled to announce that Camp K’helah will be located on the beautiful campus of The Meadow School beginning this summer
We are also thrilled to welcome Stephany Yoabov our new camp director.
Stephany Yoabov comes to the Jewish Community Center of Southern Nevada with over 15 years’ experience with camps, kids, teens, management and mental health. For several years Stephany managed day camp, therapeutic recreation, and inclusion programming for City of Henderson Parks & Recreation. She managed multiple sites with over 30 staff and approximately 100 participants at various recreation centers & excursions simultaneously.
Stephany then transitioned into a director position managing multiple group homes for children and adults with disabilities. In the medical & behavioral health field, Stephany has developed and executed programming for adults and children of all abilities, including those on the autism spectrum, neurological disorders, and SED/PTSD. She has specialized in Positive Behavior Interventions and inspires youth to learn, grow, and explore. Working in this field was rewarding, however she longed to return to the camp environment.
Stephany has always had a strong appreciation for camp and outdoor recreation. She then accepted a leadership position with Kama’aina Kids, a nonprofit kids program on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. On the island she led hikes, sleep away camp, as well as High Ropes and Low Ropes Courses at Camp Timberline. In addition, she led the Military Strong Bonds Program in various areas of the island, as well as kayak & snorkeling tours at Heeia State Park on Kaneohe Bay where Gilligan’s Island was filmed.
Stephany has since found her Basherit, Stan, and started her family. She cherishes time with her two children, in whom she is instilling a love for Judaism and Jewish values. After her recent trip to Israel, Stephany is excited to begin her journey as the Family, Youth, and Camp Director for the JCC of Southern Nevada. She looks forward to leading the JCC into its 23rd year of Camp K’helah at its beautiful new campus, The Meadows School. Under Stephany’s leadership, Camp K’helah will continue to be a fun, vibrant and nurturing community steeped in Jewish values and traditions. Camp will build on the traditions campers and families have loved for the last two decades while expanding into new programs that are enriching, exciting and help campers gain 21st Century skills in our fun summer camp environment.
