Swimming at Camp K’helah
Swimming at Camp K’helah is both instructional and FUN!
We are committed to providing all campers from age 3 to 8th grade an exceptional instructional swim experience. Our Aquatics Program is based on the principles and methods established by the American Red Cross, and all of our instructors are certified by the American Red Cross. Swimmers are grouped by age and ability and learn in an age-appropriate environment. Our goal is to advance the swimming skill level of each child and do so in fun, interactive and CAMP-like manner.
Safety is the Top Priority
For our youngest swimmers in our Early Childhood and Kindergarten groups, each instructor will work with a group of six children. A counselor will also be in the pool with each group, providing a 1:3 ratio of adult to child supervision. In addition, there will always be at least two lifeguards on duty specifically to supervise the Early Childhood and Kindergarten swim programs. For our older, more experienced swimmers (grades 1 and up), the instructor to child ratio is generally 1:6 with additional supervision by our American Red Cross-certified lifeguards and camp staff.
Red Cross Course Information
The American Red Cross Program is progressive; each skill builds on the skills mastered in the previous levels. In order to insure quality programming, it is necessary to successfully complete each level in the progression. Essential swim and safety skills are taught in each level.
*Swim-a-grams will be sent home each Friday, providing parents with updates on the progress their child has made in Instructional Swim for that week.
